Why I chose a career in fitness?

I have not only a passion but a love to help others. in high school, I experience an traumatic moment that i had to take on a very responsible role but i stepped up and took action. that moment only showed me my STRENGTHs and OPPORTUNITIES but it made me aware that this is what i am call to do.  I’m a strong believer in connecting the mind, body and soul. Focusing on movement, feel, trust, and nutrition. Mastering those will only gain true Success!

Shatira Frasier

online blogger, personal trainer

Born and raised on Long Island, Ny. till about the age of 12 when her and her family then moved to central PA where she found her love for fitness. It was in the 12th grade when her and her sister decided to take a weight training class just to get out of the traditional skill-based gym class. During her time in that class she learned that basic fundamentals of weight lifting and speed and agility. After graduating high school she then went to Lock Haven University to pursue a career in Sports Administration. After realizing that the business side of sports wasn’t the right fit for her, she then transferred to Hofstra University where she fell in love with the idea of Exercise Science. During her second year at Hofstra, she was given the opportunity to intern with the strength and conditioning department, under the supervision of assistant strength coach Brian Bert.  While under his supervision she learn the importance of mobility work, how to cue an athlete to effectively lift with injury prevention in mind, how to program specifically to an individual needs. Upon graduating from Hofstra she was given the opportunity to work for Equinox, where she was able to expand her knowledge on injury prevention and program for the general population. Currently she is working on her Master’s in Sport Science while training individuals on the side.
